According to reports:
“Jasper Aristotle Smiddie, 19, allegedly stabbed his 67-year-old grandmother Gloria Helfrich, 93 times, smashing her with a wrench and then shooting her with a crossbow.
Law enforcement say Smiddie decided to kill his grandmother in order to make his uncle suffer. He originally intended to kill his uncle, but instead decided to kill his grandmother.
“He decided, ‘Well, I’ll kill my grandmother instead so that my uncle has to live with the death of his mother for the rest of his life,’ ” Sheriff Grady Judd of the Polk County Sheriff’s Department told media.
Cops are puzzled why the teen hated his uncle so vehemently.
Police say Smiddie killed his grandmother in her bedroom in the family home they shared.
Then he locked the door and waited patiently for his uncle to return home.
The teen then sat and ate dinner and watched TV with his uncle, who had no idea his mother lay strewn in blood – dead in her own bedroom.
Evidently, the teen, Smiddie, left the carnage house in the morning, and then reportedly called his father in Tampa. He confessed to his father what he had done.
His father promptly called police, directing them to the gruesome crime scene.
Smiddie was then arrested near his girlfriend’s home and charged with first-degree murder.
